The WolfPack: Hunks With Hair
Bronson Pelletier (Jared)
Age: 22
Background: Plains Cree tribe of the Askinootow First Nations
Bio: The Vancouver Island, British Columbia, native was among the most experienced actors, landing roles in Discovery Kids’ “DinoSapien” and “Renegadepress,” a Canadian youth TV show.
How he prepared to play someone from a different tribe: “It’s 2009, I Googled it!”
A stroke of luck: Pelletier said he landed the first audition he ever went on. “I went to an audition with no agent, no head shot, nothing. That same day, I got the call that I got the part. It’s like I woke up one morning not knowing what I was going to do with my life and I ended the day with a career.”
Kiowa Gordon (Embry)
Age: 19
Background: First Nation descendant of the Hualapai Nation
Bio: This is Gordon’s first role. He was cast straight out of high school. “I go to church with (author) Stephenie Meyer. She told me about the audition. I went to an acting coach an hour before the audition, and it turned out to be pretty easy and really fun.”
Musician at heart: Gordon, who recently moved to L.A. with his 25-year-old brother, hopes his success will also help his rock band, which is tentatively called Anything and Everything.
Alex Meraz (Paul)
Age: 24
Background: First Nation descendant of the Purepecha (Tarasco) Nation based out of Michoacan, Mexico.
Bio: Meraz, who is also a painter and illustrator, has had a variety of small roles as American Indian dancers and warriors in films like “The New World.”
Escape through acting: Growing up on a reservation, Meraz saw acting as a way out. “You look at glitz and glamour. You can make a lot of money doing nothing, you know, compared to construction. I’ve always been an artist, and acting is the medium I just loved the most. I want to tell stories. I think that’s culturally specific to being native. We have that cultural background in telling stories. It’s instinctive almost.”
Chaske Spencer (Sam)
Age: 34
Background: First Nation descendant of Lakota (Sioux) Nation
Bio: The eldest Wolf Pack member has had several American Indian-based roles on TV miniseries and shows like “DreamKeeper.”
Name game: His first name is pronounced “Chess-Kay.”
Breaking stereotypes: Spencer hopes his part as head werewolf Sam, will change the American Indian stereotype. “The history of Hollywood and the way Native Americans are portrayed in movies is very racist. I think ‘Dancing With Wolves’ was a pinnacle moment and it started going forward from there. This movie, it’s going to be so big, plus it thrusts us onto contemporary roles, it’s very exciting for us, and it opens a lot of doors. We’ve been getting offers for films that aren’t specifically designed for natives at all.”

When it comes to finding that special someone, the 24-year-old married father advises, “Be open-minded and don’t have a checklist of what you do and don’t want. It happens when you least expect it.”
In fact, Alex’s first date with his wife Kim took place in “a cellar bar with a jazz singer, wine and gourmet pizza.” These days, the couple’s dates are just as down-to-earth, featuring “the couch, TV and popcorn.”
When he is playing the role of a shirtless
“I hope to have a gallery opening next year,” he said. “That’s my New Year’s resolution.”

Twilighters everywhere will have a new obsession once New Moon is released on Nov. 20. Alex Meraz is the hot new actor in the saga, and fans everywhere will be sure to love him. Meraz joins the Twilight cast as Paul of the Quileute tribe, the short-tempered, volatile teenage werewolf that is prone to have an angry outburst at any moment.
At 24, Meraz is a husband and proud father of a 19-month-old son, Somak. He credits his wife for getting him interested in the Twilight saga."My wife is obsessed with the books and was anxiously waiting for the movie. She pushed me to go to the casting," he said.
Originally reading for the part of Sam Uley, Meraz admits he was surprised by his casting. "What scared me was that my manager called me and said I didn't get the part of Sam Uley. But then said that I got Paul. And I was like 'Paul? Paul who?'" He said his cockier, explosive reading at the audition better fit the personality and character of Paul.
Meraz hails from Arizona, where he attended the New School for the Arts and Academics. It was there that he decided high school was enough for him and that he'd pursue his acting career without attending college. "I'm not a conventional guy. School scares me. I already knew what I wanted to do," he said.
In addition to acting, Meraz is an avid painter and dancer and he has received his black belt in martial arts. “When I got out of high school and decided not to pursue painting, I wanted to be a dancer. But it took a major toll on my body and I decided acting would be the happy medium for me," he said.
Thus far, acting has served Meraz seemingly well. Entering the fan-obsessed world of Twilight was very exciting for him. "I'm grateful to be in a series of films with such an amazing following," he said. "It was raining and freezing in Vancouver when we were shooting and we had a tent to sit under and I saw these director-like chairs with names on the back," he remembered."First I saw Kristen [Stewart]'s and then next to her was mine with my name and I was like 'That's awesome!' That's how I knew this was big."
Just having finished shooting Eclipse, the third installment of the Twilight saga, Meraz said things are still hush-hush about whether or not his character will be included in the fourth and fifth movies based on the final book, Breaking Dawn.
In regards to the probable instant stardom that will surround him once the film releases, Meraz is expecting nothing and hoping for the best. "Whatever happens, happens," he said. "I'm getting a lot of promises so I kind of leave it be and if or when it doesn't happen, I wont be shocked."

ABC7 talks to Cameron Bright
My observant eyes saw Bronson in the background. Who can miss him in that hat? He then goes on to hug Alex's wife, Kim. Then you see Kim for the rest of the interview. Alex pops up toward the end. Am I bored? NOPE! Just trying to avoid New Moon spoilers on Twitter and forums! I still have 23 hours left.
