By now, New Moon fans and novices alike all know that Taylor Lautner is making quite an onscreen transformation for the second movie from The Twilight Saga, playing werewolf Jacob Black. But Taylor’s not alone in sprouting fur and prowling the screen — meet the rest of the Quileute New Moon wolf pack!

Chaske Spencer: Sam Uley
Werewolf: As the first to make the transformation into a wolf, Sam is the leader of the La Push pack. Sam plays an important role in Bella’s life early in the book.

Real life: Born in Oklahoma, Chaske, 34, is a Native American Indian or First Nation descendant of Lakota (Sioux) Nation.

New Moon quote: “Bella, my name is Sam Uley. Charlie sent me to look for you.”

Chaske quote: “I’ve been eating six meals a day: fish, chicken, vegetables and protein shakes,” Chaske told OK! of his movie fitness regime. “It’ll be nice to be a couch potato again.”

Kiowa Gordon: Embry Call
Werewolf: Embry is one of Jacob’s best friends, and turns into a wolf just before Jacob does. In wolf form, he’s gray with dark spots.

Real life: Kiowa, 19, is a Native American Indian or First Nation Descendant of the Hualapai Nation. Stephenie Meyer herself scouted him out for the role.

New Moon quote: “Well, the wolf’s out of the bag now.”

Kiowa quote: “We had to pump up a little bit, it’s mostly natural,” Kiowa joked to Fox News in Phoenix, “but for a few weeks in there, we worked out pretty intensely.“

Alex Meraz: Paul
Werewolf: Paul has a short temper and isn’t too happy with Jacob when he realizes Bella is in on their secret. He turnes into a dark silver wolf.

Real life: Alex, 24, is a Native American Indian or First Nation descendant of the Purepecha (Tarasco) Nation. He and wife Kim are new parents to baby Somack.

New Moon quote: “Is she more important than anything — than the whole tribe? Than the people getting killed?”

Alex quote: “He smells like roses!” Alex once said of Robert Pattinson. “The first time I met him I was like, ‘Dude, you smell fantastic!’ “

Bronson Pelletier: Jared
Werewolf: Jared is the first to turn wolf, after Sam. He’s got medium brown fur, and like the others, is constantly hungry.

Real life: Bronson, 23, is a Plains Cree native and is originally from Askinootow First Nation.

New Moon quote: “Excellent. We’ve got bait.”

Bronson quote: “The vampires have a very serious demeanor so when they’re on set they’re chilled, serious, when the wolves get on set that is when the party starts.”
